KLIM...came and left.. hehehe.. this entry is kind of late(KLIM was on 18th March).. finally got to run my first KLIM, and my 3rd half marathon. 1st half marathon was in 2005 in Kuantan.. last year I did register for KLIM, already got the number and shirt, but couldn't run at the very last minute.. family call . anyway, this time i didn't have any excuse not to run.in fact, i was really looking forward to it.. yeah, despite all the training, and circuit runs. went for the 2nd and 3rd circuit.. got fourth place for both.. if dapat 3rd place at least dapat balik the entry fee...huhuh...kay kay... my Kuantan friends came down.. Ganesan , Cheong, Azrul, Sharon, Crystal , Sifu Tan Wah Sing, William and a few more.. oh ya , Jimmy Panjang was around also. Missing in action --> cikgu Lee, Ah Fook, Moto Chai and jimmy topi.. miss them..

well, this entry is specially dedicated to my Kuantan friends.. miss you all soooo much... miss Kuantan alsoo lah... we the Kuantan Pacesetters are a bunch... not only we have all the main races in Malaysia in our group..(duh).. but also our group consists of people from varying age range, background.. we have Poot poot chew.. the funny and sometimes blurry guy who comes to Taman Gelora every eve on his Poot poot motor bike.. we have Jimmy Topi, called topi cause he never comes to Gelora/Bukit Pelindung without his topi.. Jimmy Panjang, to distinguish from the other Jimmy, Ms Soh...coz she's still single..but im not sure if availble.i'll ask her ..heheh.. then we have the ever bising and kecoh Crystal..hehe.. minah ni bising gila.. but he running also not bad. in fact she does run barefooted (like our Sifu Tan Wah Sing.).. who else ?? oh ya, i can't end go on without mentioning Abe Din.. one of the few Malays from the Kuantan group. ha, this guy looks much younger than his age.. ehem... rambut slalu kemas..in fact, the last time i went to Kuantan, he's got a new hair do.. tapi tak pernah lari outside Kuantan... but I believe he'll be running the Penang Bridge Marathon in June this year.. so , watch out Penang..hahahaha.. kay, next next... cikgu Lee !! mana pigi ??? why didn't come for Great Eastern 30k and KLIM ?? miss you and your wife !!!

anyway, hope to see you guys soon ...when ah ??? June !!!! ayyaa.... takpelah, June pon, June lah.. unless i got to Kuantan before that ! Here are a few pictures of us taken in Kuantan and KL...

a few fotos chunked together here.. good old and new memories refreshed.. kuantan pacesetters, i miss you all like crazy !!!!!!! takpe, next month jumpa lagi.. azrul, bila youR lutut nak ok ?? if dah ok , cepat -cepat la mula training.. ke nak datang cheer je 18th march nanti..?? heheh...

Penang 12 hour walk (November '06) was a really good experience for me.. never tried race walking before..mcm mana ntah ter-semangat to join d event.. almaklumla it was held during holiday season.. so, cuti-cuti (& jln-jln) Malaysia kejap.. real fun eventho struggle jugak to walk as long as possible.. i finished the race in 11hours58min..http://www.ultrawalking.net/clasificaciones2006/3rdPg2006Results_D.pdf Second race walk was a week after GE 30k..Kasturi, my sifu @ my contender also took part in the Malay Mail 5k Ladies Walk.. was just a few seconds behind her..!!! huhuh,, she's in one of the fotos.. cuba teka her age... ingatkan she's younger than me...or somewhere near my age... then masa 5k walk tuh, she told me that she's 30 years old...mak aiiii.... she look so young !!! so to all ladies out there, IF nak nampak muda sila lah exercise, walk ke , jog ke....as long as you don't sit and sleep all day long , makan tido makan tido, dah cukup bagus.. i mean, your health is your responsibility, if sendiri tak jaga, who will kan.. makan pon kena jaga.. kay, kay... for more info gi je emedicine.com and you'll be fed with all kind of diseases which is correlated with lack of exercise..FTAAA sifu Mr Khoo (whom i met during the penang12hour walk) was also around during the 5k walk..he said i need to improve the 'walking' . very true.. ko nak masuk walk race, mana bley walk-walk like d way you walk everyda to work , or to class.. you've got to get hold and practise the right technique....tried it..tapi feels funny...huhuhu.. so, after dis kena train lagik.. kay, d 2nd foto is of me and Lans Koperal Hanizam, champion of the 3rd international 12 hour penang walk .tak tau plak that time he's an army !! huhu.. n then 4 days ago masa medical check up kat PPAT(pusat perubatan angkatan tentera @ (RSAT) MINDEF, belek2 la magazine tentera darat..(while waiting for my turn2c d doc)..tengok2 ada gambar that hanizam guy...fuyyo.... champion 24hour walk tuh... i salute u koperal hanizam !!!! next walk kita jumpa lagi ek...hehhehe...

3rd foto tuh kena crank bicycle... huhuh...tuh dapat 4 indents tuh...cantik kan ?? skrg nie if i upload d latest foto of the same site... lagi cantik... 4 red dots surrounded by a yellow lagoon..and that yellow lagoon surrounded by a light green shade...heheh..

4th foto : me and kasturi... yang i said nampak muda gile tuh... yes, you don't need thousands of ringgit to get the desired proportion of thighs, buttocks or even b**bs..hihih... tak natural tuh.. just stick to regular exercise ok... and i don't mean ultra walking or marathoning. do it according to your capability okay.. oh by the way, kasturi came in 4th for the 12hour walk, and the person next to her came in 6th.. not bad at all for a 1st timer !!!

next , i think d foto was taken using tey's camera... or azwar... tak sure.. tuh masa KLIM 2nd circuit kat titiwangsa.. satu lap is 2.5km. did 6 laps in 1hr 26mins , and was, of course, behind norlida. got to know a few more people that day... rozita, sam, and a few others.. ita, 3rd circuit you lari tak ??? mari sama2 heheh..Tey, if you're reading this, thanks for the lovely fotos u took during the circuit running.

6th foto : me and Tan Swee Huah , secreatary of Pacesetters and editor of Footloose magazine, the club's bimonthly magazine. this one taken during the 5k ladies walk.. http://www.pacesetters.com.my/contact/images/shtan.jpg

the next 3 fotos masa 2nd circuit KLIM... the chinese guy is Goh... very nice and sweet person... handsome, handsome jugak...baik , baik jugak.... if only......... hehhehe... dulu masa tak kenal , i used to refer him as the hot chinese dude...

2nd last foto !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's my BELOVED Kuantan pacesetters family... actually ramai lagi.. i'll upload some more fotos of them insyaAllah in my next entry ok.. ha, last foto tuh, LKpl hanizam .. macho gitu...

Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (Jan/Feb). Pusam refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Lord Murugan (also Subramaniam), the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (lance) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman.

Devotees prepare for the celebration by cleansing themselves through prayer and fasting. On the day of the festival, devotees will shave their heads undertake a pilgrimage along a set route while engaging in various acts of devotion, notably carrying various types of kavadi (burdens). At its simplest this may entail carrying a pot of milk, but mortification of the flesh by piercing the skin, tongue or cheeks with vel skewers is also common. The most spectacular practice is the vel kavadi, essentially a portable altar up to two meters tall, decorated with peacock feathers and attached to the devotee through 108 vels pierced into the skin on the chest and back. Fire walking and flagellation may also be practiced. It is claimed that devotees are able to enter a trance, feel no pain, do not bleed from their wounds and have no scars left behind. However, some of the more extreme masochistic practices have been criticized as dangerous and contrary to the spirit and intention of Hinduism

The largest Thaipusam celebrations take place in Singapore and Malaysia. The temple at the Batu Caves, near Kuala Lumpur, often attracts over one million devotees and tens of thousands of tourists[citation needed]. The procession to the caves starts at the Maha Mariamman Temple in the heart of the city and proceeds for 15 kilometers to the caves, an 8-hour journey culminating in a flight of 272 steps to the top. In Malaysia, although rare, scenes of people from different ethnic groups and faiths bearing "kavadi" can also be seen

Assalamualaikum !!! 3rd Penang International 12Hour Walk.. one memorable and interesting event !!! Been taking part in runs the past 4-5 years..but never a walk !!! i didn't get much sleep the night before.. in the morning woke up 9ish.. and by 11 had to get ready to collect t-shirt and number.. walked around 3km before reaching Esplanade...phew....sweating tak ingat ponya.. it was so hot and terik !! the walk thru Argyll Road, Lebuh Chulia and Lebuh Light was an interesting one.. hehe.. macam2 boleh tgk .. Penangites busy with their daily activities.. and despite the availability of a road map, i still need verbal assistance.. 'Uncle, how do i get to Esplanade'...'Excuse me aunty, macam mana mau pigi Padang Kota?'.. (baru tau padang kota and esplanade refers to the same place..)..patutla aku cari Esplanade kat map tak jumpak...ciss...

the registeration went smoothly..i came in early, and there were so many people.but the crowd eventually built up..no familiar face.. checked my name at the start list outside the building, and then proceed to the counter.D542..deposit (for time chip) RM20..took my shirt,number,booklet..Had lunch at one of the mamak's.. so hungry !!!! the ayam madu so tasty !!!!!!!! haha.. must come again ah..

so back to the room.. managed to nap kejap..5ish already getting ready.. 5.30pm set off..6pm already there.. but this time took a shorter route..lalu area E&O Hotel, Lebuh Farquhar.. sampai sana, dah rama orang...hehe...and yeay...a few familiar faces !! pacesetters from KL !! saw tey, jamie pang,ms foo sook ying,to name a few..

the walk started on time.... no rush..gun went off...and the participants started walking..hihih... semangat,...1st time kan..the guy standing next to me ..(encik halim...or wahid...wahid rasanye..)..regular participant in walking comp.. his advice to me : walk as much as possible... jangan tidur ! and jangan berhenti lama sangat for the food and drinks.. thatz what i did beginning from the first lap... no food and drinks until the 1st hour is over.. basically i only stopped hourly at the food station..giler banyak food.. u can wallop as much food and drink as u can..huhu.. if only they could provide power drink instead of 100plus.. cold and sweet !! but then again, better than nothing kan ! surprisingly i didnt get sleepy after midnite..just kep walking..my own pace.. checking out other walker's style of walking 12hours.. huhu... 12 midnite...nightmate blisters arrived.dah letak dah plaster to wrap some of d toes..but need more ! stopped kat st.johns ambulance kejap coz d extra plaster which i brought not enough !! continued walking without much problem..i couldnt pace with anyone coz everyone in their own time zone.. with they i could only last for 500m with him..i think..

0200 hours : started to get a lilll bit sleepy.luckily they provided coffee.. at the rest tent area, could already see people lepaking, taking their time to chill those joints and muscles.some of them dah sampai cloud 9. me?? continue jalan until the last second.i'm not sure if i was pushing myself..could never tell the limits of my muscles until ........

0500 hours : condemn.........

King

"King" by UB40

King, where are your people now
Chained and pacified
Tried in vain to show them how
And for that you died

You had a dream of a promised land
People of all nations walking hand in hand
But they're not ready to accept
That dream situation, yet

King, where are your people now
Chained and pacified
Tried in vain to show them how
And for that you died

King's thesis

Background: King was under a lot of pressure, both political and personal. Politically, the majority (white) culture was not used to the demonstrations and civil disobedience, having just come out of the relatively quiescent 1950s. Furthermore, King was being whipsawed between 1. traditional Black leaders and 2. the more militant Nation of Islam (a.k.a. the "Black Muslims"), on the other. The traditional leaders had made their accommodations with the white power structure and were concerned that King was going to destroy what they felt they had accomplished. (Not to mention their fear that they would be replaced.) The Nation of Islam (and, later, militant groups like the Black Panthers) would reject King's nonviolence as futile, even Uncle Tom-ish. King also needed to think about the response of whites, who were also divided; he had to consider whether 3. sympathetic whites would be alienated and whether 4. neutral whites would be mobilized against the movement. King was also under pressure because 5. the FBI knew about his liaisons with other women — recall that he was married to Coretta Scott King — and could use that knowledge against him when they chose.

As you can probably tell from the letter, King found himself in the situation, "Damned if I do; damned if I don't". "If I don't do anything," he could mutter to himself, "then I'm doing nothing against the existing brutality and discrimination, which has no foreseeable end. The law is being used to oppress us. On the other hand, if I do something about it, then I'm seen as an anarchist or lawbreaker." He was particularly frustrated by the response of Southern white moderates (especially including the clergymen to whom he is responding) to the plain injustice of segregation:

These "moderates" were criticizing him for breaking the laws. To them, King appeared a wild-eyed radical, even an anarchist. (J. Edgar Hoover, the powerful director of the FBI, was convinced that King was a communist and had the FBI snoop and play dirty tricks on him.)
"Moderates" praised the (brutal) response of the Birmingham police to "keep order" and "prevent violence". (Note that the name of the chief of the Birmingham police, "Bull" Connor, is now a byword for brutal, official repression.)
"Moderates" held him to be an "outsider", a "rabble-rouser", an "outside agitator" coming to Birmingham to stir up trouble.
"Moderates" said that the demonstrations were "unwise and untimely" — that the demonstrations created ill will and resentment and made it more difficult for the moderates to support his cause.
The demonstrations put the new mayor of Birmingham (and his administration) in a corner, where any concessions they made, no matter how just, would be seen as "caving in" to pressure — and illegal pressure, at that. (As, in our own day, the slogan is, "No negotiations with terrorists.")
King and his fellow demonstrators seemed hypocritical. On the one hand they were calling for people to obey the law as set forth by the Supreme Court in Brown v. Board of Education, but on the other hand they were then turning around and breaking the law when it suited their purposes.
How does King answer them? Taking the above points in the same order:

King points out that he is not a radical but rather a voice for non-violence in a situation in which others (e.g., the Nation of Islam) believed a violent response by Blacks was legitimate and even called-for.
He points out the brutality of the police and the court system generally, both in their treatment of Blacks generally and in their treatment of the (non-violent) demonstrators particularly.
He points out that he was invited to Birmingham by the local branch of his organization, and that in any case, the issue of oppression has no boundaries. ("No one is free when others are oppressed.")
He points out that Blacks — of course he used the term common then, "the Negro" — had waited for 340 years for their freedom, and that in any case, the record of broken promises made it appear that they would have to wait another 340 years before anything would be done.
As far as the difficulties of the mayor were concerned ... see the previous comment. Basically, King had given up on anything happening without pressure. He says that oppressors never give up their power voluntarily.
Finally, he asserts that he is showing his subordination to the law both by his open breaking of it and by his willingness to go to jail for his "crime", but that he is not morally obligated to obey unjust laws.
The last argument is the big one, and King approaches the issue from several different directions. He mentions Martin Buber's argument for people to have "I-Thou" relationships, as opposed to the "I-It" relationships contemplated by segregation. He mentions the injustice of laws that were specifically designed to oppress Blacks, laws that were passed without the participation of Blacks, even good laws that were (mis-)used to oppress Blacks. He mentions the Biblical precedent of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refusing to obey Nebuchadnezzar's law. He mentions the Boston Tea Party. He mentions the refusal of the early Christians to obey repressive Roman laws, even in the face of death. He points out, by way of contrast, that lots of very bad things have been done "legally" — starting with the Holocaust

OOooooooOoO tak ajak pegi shoot fireworks!!! ...Julie shoot kat TC masa ari raya....tinggalkan org lain!!...nanti kau...hehe..

I like fireworks pic # 12, u managed to get it sharp, walaupon api bergerak2..tgn mesti steady ni..mengalahkan tripod yg kwn u kasik! . The way u composed the subject by not putting it in the center, n let the red aura balanced the overall image...cun! Ni sengaja ke tak ni? hehehe nicely done...

Pic # 14 pun cun... naik seri hijaunya! i always like cropped image... a little indication kita dh tau apa subjek tuh... but i think it would b nicer if u potray full image of the tree n let only the rooftop cropped.Apa u rasa?

Pic #21 paling best! Boley rasa emosi gloomy pantai TC...lengkap dgn mendung berat n warna yg malap...n boley rasa angin bertiup kencang. Nicely composed and good perpective. Mula2 i look at the image as a whole, last2 my eye flow end up drawn to the three blue umbrellas sitting at d left corner of d pic. Macam ada cerita plak...Gambar yg ni bes ler..... if i were u, i blow up this pic n frame it.

Gambar #1 is the best of the best.... pasal aku yg shoot! lagipon subjek (or object?) dia mcm tak betul sket...cuba tgk btul2...

Oh ya, satu lagi nasihat...next time u nak shoot...di nasihatkan utk bawak kawan yeh...tak seronok gi menembak sorang2 ni...

in melaka.. taman rama-rama . Melaka

alllooo fellow fotopagers !!! how's life ?!! up ? down ? so-so ?? pending ?? huhuh... hope everything is running smooth for ALL of you ! especially on this blessed month of Ramadhan ! To my Muslim brothers and sisters , please PLEASE observe your fast ! it saddens me to know that A FEW take lightly this form of ibadah, an ibadah which is 1 of the pillars of our beloved religion . so, my beloved & shayangness... *there goes bahasa rojak*..., take care of your relationship with Allah Almighty okay. to fellow comrades of IIUM (both kuantan and gombak), happy fasting ! Ramadhan this year is like a blink of an eye..pejam celik kita dah 18 ramadhan.. never, in my life experienced Ramadan this fast.. and i am sure all of you rasa macam tuh jugak..

pasal the graphic which i posted here... its a piece which popped out from mid air. i had no idea (when editing the photo), that i would end up blending it with the 'wooden' background..and the figure in front of it are merely red silhouette.. .. anyway, the interesting part i would love to share with you here are the text on the left sife. They are actually lyrics of this song 'I Know A Place' by Bob Marley.. the lyrics are quite straightforward (most of his songs are..) and if you've read it, i'm sure it wasn't hard to appreciate the meaning.i am not promoting Marley here okay.. just want to share with you people that his songs are soothing for the ears and relaxing for the mind ! depending on the songs that you choose/happen to listen, do check out the lyrics okay. giler best !! if you guys only know a few songs by this legend, try downloading some songs.. allow me to recommend --> Waiting In Vain , Could You Be Loved, Jamming and Sun is Shining kay... i think thats it for now... bye !

A "friend' introduced me this song, since then, ive been listening it over n over again evriday. This is such a beautiful song with motivating words. And it reminds me of u too...
